For the past 18 months I’ve been working as a virtual assistance PA for an amazing lady. Her business has started to grow rapidly, and she now finds it time to offer me more work. I am both excited and nervous. At times I think to myself “what if I fail”, “what if I make a big mistake”. But I am finding that the more I let go, I am discovering three things are happening to me as I take a leap of faith in my abilities.
Of course I answered yes when she asked. I absolutely love working for her and using technology. These thoughts aren’t strong enough to stop me doing what I love. But they are there, quietly sitting in the background waiting for there opportunity to talk.
There are two things I like to keep in mind 1. The excitement far outweighs the fear, and 2. If I want to get to where I want to be, I have to take a leap. A leap of faith in my abilities to do this work is needed. So what happens to us when we take a leap of faith in our abilities, how does it affect us on the inside?
Taking a leap - teaches us to be Courageous
You can’t learn to be courageous if it does not challenge you. Courage is the ability to do something even if we don’t feel ready to do it. Will we ever feel ready. No, probably not. But we can do things anyway, even if we feel far behind where we think we should be.
Taking a leap - develops Inner Strength
If we take a leap, fly and land on our feet or fall flat on our face. Then we have made ourselves a little bit stronger on the inside. How do we make ourselves stronger by falling flat on our face? We know how not to it next time, we know that that way does not work. So we can get closer to doing it right the next time we have a go.
Taking a leap - proves to ourselves that we can do it
We know we can do it. It’s just that sometimes we put ourselves down and think that we are unable to do it. But the truth is this, we are capable, more than capable, and as time goes by we get better because we took the courageous leap to do something we were a little afraid to do in the beginning.
In two maybe three months, look back and see how far you have come.
Before you go today, I would love to know what was one leap you took in the past, and how did it change you and your life?
